E2F — Ecology to Finance: Research Programme

What E2F investigates

E2F — Ecology to Finance — is Falcon Research's principal research programme. It investigates when and how ecological conditions become economically and financially material, and how those effects should influence financial analysis and valuation.

The transmission chain

The core analytical pathway is: ecological condition → physical or biophysical effect → operational consequence → economic consequence → financial-statement or capital consequence → valuation and decision implication.

The framework does not assume that every ecological impact is financially material, nor that every constraint necessarily reduces growth. Each link must be supported by evidence or identified explicitly as inference, hypothesis or assumption.

Beyond ESG disclosure

E2F is not designed as an ESG score or disclosure-rating system. Disclosure frameworks can be useful evidence sources, but the research objective is the underlying ecological–economic–financial reality: resource dependence, physical constraints, pollution and ecosystem effects, adaptation, technology, regulation, operating economics, cash flows, risk and valuation.

Evidence architecture

  • Observed evidence: directly supported by a credible source.

  • Established scholarly interpretation: supported by published literature.

  • E2F inference: logically derived from evidence but not directly stated by the source.

  • Hypothesis: a proposition requiring further testing.

  • Assumption: a modelling or analytical input.

  • Unknown or evidence gap: a question for which adequate evidence has not yet been established.

Research direction

E2F research is being developed through sector-level studies, ecological-to-financial transmission analysis, valuation research and company or policy applications. The methodology is expected to evolve as evidence accumulates, counter-evidence is tested and research is subjected to academic scrutiny.
